Dress Me Up

Heather and I spied this new fabric, Dress Me Up by Wee Gallery, on Instagram and called right away to order bolts. We could see the awesome potential with this fabric.

Can you see where this fabric could go?

I started a Pinterest Board for project ideas. I can't wait until I have the time to play around with Dress Me Up.

Handmade Wedding, Napkins

As some of you know I love junking and thrifting. The ladies at a few of my favorite thrift shops know me because I am there so often. I think its safe to say I am addicted to the hunt.

Naturally, when it came time to plan a wedding, the details would involve one of my addictions (fabric being another).

I often find linen and cotton napkins and knew I could use them. I have been finding them  6/$1.00 and buy as many as I see. I think I am over my quota (50). I should do a napkin count.

I sew a wee button in the corner just for fun. My mom sent me a bag full of buttons that she thrifted where she lives (Victoria, BC).

Some napkins already have a corner embellishment so I leave those without a button.

I have a Pinterest Board for weddings  and have a few ideas on how to fold/tie the napkins for the table.

Heather also got a few more bolts of Ikea Britton Nummer in stock and I think it may find its way in to a wedding project. It fits right in

Anyone have any handmade wedding ideas for us?

Pickledish Quilt

I brought an old UFO (unfinished project) in to work to day to buy one strip of fabric. Thats how much I needed to finish the binding. You can see the unfinished binding flapping away on the right.

I used the free tutorial by Aneela Hoey called Pickledish. I made the archs years ago. They sat around because I didn't want to sew curve piecing. Curved piecing isn't that hard but I put off projects for less (see the above binding UFO).

I wanted to cross this one off my list so I decided to sew the archs on raw edge to a square of fabric. I

Here is a close up of the edges. It isn't perfect but I love it and it is done. Well, dont when I add that 20" of binding. Seriously, Tara

Hexie Potholder Gifts

We got a stack of repo feedsack dish towels and I knew exactly what I could do with them. I had a couple of gifts to make and I whipped up this pair of hexie dish towels.

I used 2" paper piecing papers. After I assembled the flowers I stitched it right on to the bottom/middle of the towel.

I have another idea for a towel and have to get on it stat, its Easter-y.

Anyone have any ideas for us?

Crafty Friends

This weekend was our Hen Party at the Hen House, or my bachelorette/bridal shower. That's right, a sewing bee bachelorette party.

I have the most wonderful, crafty friends. Jenele made me this Berry Box and filled it with sweet little fabric rolls. Each roll picked because she knew I would love it. Jenele also made the potholders.

Jentry embellished the mason jar sippy with vintage sheet strips (I am a big fan of vintage sheets). I am now going to tie fabric strips on everything.

Heather made the mini-quilt for me. I briefly thought about putting it in my sewing room but I think it will go in my bedroom. I have big plans for that room.

The scissors is a Lori Holt pattern. She will be here teaching a weekend retreat. Have you seen the pattern she is teaching? I went nuts when I saw it. We still have a few spots left so give a call to reserve your spot and sew with us!

Jenele also made the potholders.

I  had the best weekend hanging out with my Guild friends. More pics to come from this weekend. My wedding is coming up and I am going to be sharing my wedding handmade projects.

April Showers and Stuff

I ventured outside for a few sewing photos. It is so sunny and nice you would think there would have been plenty of light. I need photography lessons me thinks.

I did get a few photos I can work with. I finished my April Showers hexie pillow. I know what you are thinking, she is still making hexie stuff. Sorry, yes.

See that awesome quilt? A birdie told me that Heather is going to be giving this quilt away. Watch for your newsletter upcoming blog posts this week.

I was 'that' crazy lady walking down the street with my granny cart full of quilts and stuff taking pictures. Keeping Kimberly wierd

Beachy Whale

I had this whale tutorial on my Pinterest To-Do list for a while. When we got Moda's line (by Janet Clare), Hearty Good Wished, I knew it was time to get sewing.

I pulled 2 denim shirts out of my re-use pile (one of mine an one of oldest daughters) and got to work.
He just need some eyes.
It is an easy pattern and I am seriously considering making a floral whale. Cause why not?

He goes great with the baby quilt Heather made using a Hearty Good Wishes jelly roll. The quilting Amy did is a great compliment.

Now, I want to visit a beach and play. I am a former Island girl (and now a desert girl) and I sometimes miss the beach

Jewel Stars Paper Piecing

I really like Bonnie and Camille's new line, April Showers .  I joined all the mini charms (save 3 or 4) together using 1" Paper Piecing Hexagons. This project will be a pillow.

And now I have jumped to making Jewel Stars.
This is the beginning of another pillow. I am trying out a glue pen this time. I haven't tried to take out thepapers yet so I can give a full review yet but so far I love the pen for making the individual pieces.

My friend, Trina, first got me interested in paper piecing. She and I met at our local Modern Quilt Guild .
I encourage anyone to join us for a meeting. We meet the second Saturday at 6 at the Quilt Barn.

Trina is now hand quilting this lovely quilt.

This quilt is used the same diamonds as the papers used in the Jewel Stars set.

A few of the blocks she wrote when and where she made the block. This was a traveling project.
Thanks for letting us share your paper piecing adventure
